Capacity Upgrade, Additional French Backhaul Route and the introduction of LAN-PHY

Apollo Completes Upgrade and Expands Interface Capability Due to Increasing Demand.
London February 2008 - In response to increasing transatlantic bandwidth demand and to meet customer orders Apollo today announced the completion of an upgrade of the Apollo Submarine Cable System. Through the completion of this activity Apollo SCS now offers 10G LAN-PHY Ethernet capability directly between France and the US for the first time.

The upgrade of Apollo and the introduction of 10G LAN-PHY address the requirements of Apollo customers to support their multi platform services. The introduction of 10G LAN-PHY allows for the removal of SONET/SDH framing and will allow Apollo customers to take advantage of the reduced cost of Ethernet interfaces. Apollo has also complemented the submarine upgrade by enhancing its backhaul facilities in France in order to provide increased capacity and diversity between its Lannion Cable Station and Paris.
10G LAN-PHY is additionally being introduced to the Apollo Northern leg (connecting the UK and the US) and this will be in service by mid 2008.
