Apollo is the world's most advanced transatlantic submarine fibre optic cable system running from London to New York and Paris to Washington D.C. The Apollo system has the greatest capacity of any system in the Atlantic. It is flexible, with high resiliency and reliability.
Apollo incorporates multiple fibre pairs throughout its 13,000 km length and provides data transmission at 10Gbit/s through Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM). The unique engineering of Apollo allows an ultimate capacity in excess of 3.2 Tbit/s per leg.
Originally conceived as part of Cable & Wireless’ global network, Apollo is now owned and managed by Apollo Submarine Cable System Limited, a joint venture owned by Cable & Wireless and Alcatel-Lucent.
